Herein I begin the journey!
Day 1 of this tip was preceded by Night Zero, whence I was welcomed to my twin share room by the “unsightly sight” of my Aussie roomie’s skimpy underwear/undies/thong! (British = pants). ๐ Talk of the “thong song” of welcome. Blawdy’ell matey, put yo’ pants on! ย #loveAussies #Shesforgiven
She was pretty awesome and took my mind off the wonky wifi at the even wonkier Imperial Hotel here in London’s Russell Square. The next morn, 5am, I was up and out, ready for Europe! Yip yippee Yayyy!
Driving through London via Blackheath, we headed for the Port of Dover to catch the ferry to Calais! Awesome two-dimensional picture below showing both sides of the morning dawn! And No, that plane didn’t fly into the mobile-phone building. ๐
The authorities who checked our documents here in Dover are actually French border patrol/immigration officials who were totally unprepared to start the day listening to my cringeworthy French. ๐ More s the pity…I’d spent a lot of time practicing with French apps on my iPad! :'(. Oh well.. :D. Here is a pic of the famous White Cliffs (google it) and our Check-in pathway. Bienvenue en France is hasta la vista!!! <hides> Bonjour Bonjour! ย ๐
See me below with Machela and XiXoXa (probably spelled it wrong but its a name from the Xhosa tribe of South Africa and is pronounced with three clicks!) My trip is definitely off to an interesting multicultural start. Hurray for diversity! ๐
